Christmas in Madrid, Spain
In my previous post, I mentioned I went a few weeks ago to Morocco, Africa, and had the opportunity to spend a few days in Madrid.
I was really impressed with the amount of effort they put in decorating the city for Christmas.
Gran vía ( the most important and famous street of Madrid) was completely decorated with lights, as well as Puerta de Alcalá, Calle de Alcalá, and a lot of streets, it was really magical. I really wanted to take a Christmas tour bus called “Naviluz” which basically takes you on a tour at night where you can enjoy all the Christmas decorations and lighting all over Madrid, but it was impossible to get tickets, they were sold out since November, but hey! maybe if you are there the next year you can buy your tickets online with a lot of time in advance here is the link to buy them (again this is for next year):
Besides enjoying all the decorations, I went to El Corte Inglés (as always), and on the 9th floor you will find different little restaurants, it is called Gourmet Experience, and you will also get the best views of Madrid. When I go there ,I always drink my favorite wine in the world, Marqués del Riscal a fine Spanish wine (Rioja), and eat the best Iberian ham, and Manchego cheese. Highly recommended!
I also visited a park which I had never been too, (I don’t know why) because it is really near Gran Via and the hotel where I stayed, called Vincci the Mint (recommended). The park is called, Parque del Retiro, it is amazing, you can rent a little rowing boat, and have a romantic afternoon with your partner rowing in the little lagoon it has. You can also visit the Crystal Palace which is really beautiful.
I also went to a really cool place, called Platea, it used to be an old theatre, but now is filled with little restaurants, with all kinds of tapas and food, there is also a bar, and a DJ, the environment is really cool, I recommend you go to go at night and a have a cocktail or a glass of wine and eat tapas. Cheers!
Have you been to Madrid?
Madrid es la ostia tíos !
